Do You Have Children? Omega 3 Fats Should Be A Big Part Of Their Diet.

Posted by on Wednesday, 20 January, 2010

Science has understood the benefits of omega 3 essential fatty acids for some time and these benefits extend to the health of our children. Omega 3 fatty acids are as important in the diet of our children as it is in the diet of adults, and right from conception.

Omega 3 essential fatty acids are primarily found in fish oil. Kids, like adults, have a minimum requirement for levels of omega 3 essential fats in their bodies for proper and healthy development. This has now been emphasised by a new study from the University of Wollongong’s School Of Health Sciences in Australia which has concluded that Australian children are highly deficient in omega 3. Children in America and the rest of the developed world will be the same.

In this study it was found that 3 year old children had an average intake of omega 3 essential fats of 47 milligrams and the professor who undertook the study described this intake as “desperately low”.

The 2 essential fatty acids that are commonly found in fish oil are DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). And it is well known that the levels of these essential fatty acids in adults in the US are way too low. This now applies to kids. Omega 3 levels in our children are also way too low and there are a range of health implications from this.

The study noted that the demands of omega 3 in children starts at conception and that brain development during the 3rd trimester of pregnancy required a high level of DHA to be available. Equally brain development during the first 2 years of infancy also required adequate levels of Omega3 fats. Kids need omega 3 for adequate brain development and do not have enough.

A child cannot supplement its diet own with omega 3. Children have these decisions made for them by their parents. Parents should consider increasing their own intake of fish oil as well as increasing the amount of fish oil in children’s diets because their own health and the health of their kids depends on it.

And the development of a child’s brain is not the only health issue negatively impacted by inadequate levels of Omega 3. Kids have a wide range of health issues many of which can benefit from increasing their intake of fish oil. Kids with levels of omega 3 that are too low exhibit an increased risk of asthma, lower IQ as established on IQ tests, poor visual development, slower brain development and an increased risk of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) to name a few.

It is quite clear that there are important health issues involved when we consider dietary supplementation of omega 3 in children. It is possible to increase children’s fish oil intake by increasing their intake of fish however fish can be contaminated with mercury and other contaminants, is expensive and is generally not liked by children.

I supplement the diet of my own children with omega 3 fish oil capsules. When they were too young to take capsules it was a simple matter to cut the top off the capsules and pour that fish oil on their breakfast. They don’t even know fish oil is there.

Parents should be aware that the decisions they make about their children’s diet affects their children’s development. This includes establishing an adequate intake of essential fatty acids in their diet. This can safely, cost effectively and easily be achieved by the mother taking Omega 3 supplements during pregnancy and then adequate omega 3 supplementation in children during infancy and thereafter. Omega 3 supplementation by breastfeeding moms even increases the levels of DHA in mothers milk.

But not all Omega 3 capsules are high quality and there are important issues to understand about the freshness of the fish oil used, the amount of DHA present in the supplements and the effectiveness of the essential fats found in the capsules.

On my website I seek to educate my readers about how to compare the different fish oil supplements available and to tell them which omega 3 supplements I have chosen for myself and my children.

What Are A Few Means For The Typical Person To Get Their Required Protein On A Regular Basis?

Posted by on Wednesday, 13 January, 2010

Most people have a well balanced diet. That means they get enough protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and water to fuel their bodies. But if they have an illness, a dietary restriction or simply burn through a lot of food, then they may need to find additional ways to supplement their body with protein. Protein powder supplements have become the easiest way to get that extra protein. At www.amazon.com, you will find a great protein supplement that is one of their best sellers. It is Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein – Gold Standard.

The website www.amazon.com offers many protein supplements. Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein – Gold Standard is one of the best sellers, so that says a lot about what customers think and what they are buying. Some of what puts it ahead of the pack is cost, size and flavors offered. You may not think flavor would be a factor but it definitely is.

The Gold Standard by Optimum Nutrition comes in many flavors, such as double rich chocolate, cookies and cream, strawberry, vanilla and chocolate mint. That means there is a taste for everyone. And you can even order it in different sizes ranging from two pounds on upwards to ten pounds. That should keep anyone well stocked. But the real test is what customers have to say about the protein shake. Out of 306 user reviews this protein shake had 208 five star reviews, 67 four star reviews, 17 three star reviews, 6 four star reviews and only 8 one star reviews. Most of the complaints had to do with the fact that artificial sweeteners were used to help make it taste great. It seems like the clear majority thought that the product was well worth the price and that the taste was very good when compared to other similar products on the market. Yes, there were some mentions of superior products but the drawback on those protein shakes was that they were far too expensive. You can buy a 5.15 pound container of the double chocolate for $39.95 plus shipping and handling.

Now this could come off as arrogant but because I’ve researched this niche with software like Micro Niche Finder I may bring a different perspective on this subject.

There is one thing you do need to pay careful attention to when buying the Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein – Gold Standard. You need to be careful about making the actual purchase. One of the hooks is the delivery service provided by Optimum Nutrition. You could find yourself buying one bottle, not liking it and then having to fight to get the automatic delivery stopped. But as long as you keep that in mind you should have no problems with this product.

The Triple P System: Prince, Princess, Pauper

Weight loss can seem like a difficult undertaking. It can seem like a difficult and arduous task, but don’t give up hope.Millions of people learn how to burn fat fast on a daily basis.

The answer to weight loss is the same as the answers to many things: common sense.

The three step system takes weight loss from the approach of what time we eat. At breakfast eat like a king or president, at lunch eat like a prince, and at dinner eat like a pauper so your body doesn’t have to work so hard on digestion at bedtime.

Many have heard the old saying “breakfast is the most important meal of the day”. Well, it’s true.

Breakfast is the meal you eat to prepare for the rest of the day.

Food is energy, and we all need more energy at the beginning of the day than at the end.

If you wait too long to eat after you get up it may be harder for your body to digest the food, so please don’t wait too long.

At breakfast you need the most food, so that’s why it’s called eating like a prince. This is a must for people on any fast fat burning weight loss plan.

For those of you who like a traditional breakfast why not try something elaborate?

There are many things to choose from for your breakfast, including: eggs, oatmeal, fresh fruit, fresh veggies, etc.

If you’re looking for a healthier breakfast that’s still filling and will last you the day, then you could try something like a banana with toast and apple butter, or maybe some turkey sausage with buckwheat pancakes and fresh squeezed orange juice.

Lunch is a far simpler meal; hence the term “princess” Maybe have a sandwich with some orange slices and a packet of cheese crackers.

Just because dinner should be light doesn’t mean it has to be boring. Just be sure to keep your meat portions small and keep it down to two or three side dishes with a light dessert.

Just follow the three step system, and you should be feeling healthier and more energetic in no time.

I hope you have all the information you need to make wise diet choices.

Learn How To Lose Weight Fast With These Eating Tips

Posted by on Wednesday, 13 January, 2010

Food and Efficiency: a Perfect Combination

It’s not uncommon to eat a small breakfast and then a large dinner. Pay attention because there are some quick weight loss keys here:

The biggest excuse of all is time. There just isn’t enough time in the day for everything that needs to be done.

What many don’t realize though is that eating a large meal at breakfast time and then eating smaller meals for lunch and dinner will help increase efficiency and save time in the long run.

The main principal is this: a person needs more energy when they are starting the day than when the day is done.

If a person eats too much before they go to bed then most of the food will be stored as fat so the body doesn’t have to work so hard. This is the fastest way how NOT to lose weight fast.

You may be wondering what a few ways to keeping your breakfast quick yet filling might be.

Well, for starters it is important to have a balanced meal.

To save time, why not try heating up a meal that you prepared the night before?

If you’re not averse to eating meat then try squeezing in the majority of your meat intake for the day at breakfast.

If you work then you’ll want to pack something that is simple to prepare and eat instead of spending your money time and energy at a fast food place.

Fruit and a sandwich is a good light lunch.

For dinner try to keep it simple. A light dinner can include a salad, a meat and vegetable kabob, and a small slice of pie or a cookie.

Everybody has different tastes, so just go with what works for you.

Ultimately it is your decision, but I hope that this article has helped you to make an informed choice.
